To Be Sure
Teacher: Good Morning students! Before we start our lesson for today, I would like to know if you have any question or anything to know about our previous lesson on leaders and leadership skills.
Students: No question Teacher. I just would like to know more details about the lesson.
Teacher: Yes, yes. Tell me.
Students: We have learned about good leaders and their skills. But I would like to know about a good government, how can we tell if it is?
Teacher: There are many ways to know this. As for example, good government does not waste the national money for their own use.
Students: Oh, I see. That is why they build only one hospital for four villages and also only one or two nurses for the hospital to save the national money. Is that right teacher?
Teacher: That is not saving. The government does not use the money at the right place. The next one is if there is a natural disaster or poverty, the government decides and controls where to send aid and food.
Students: Oh, I see. That is why our government blocked the international community from giving aid directly to Nargis survivors and only accepted the parcels and package of the aid. And did whatever they wish to do with those aids. And worst of all, they hold the referendum and forced the people to vote for them after cyclone Nargis.
Teacher: Ok. As I mentioned before, if the government is not doing all those things, we can not consider them as a good government. People can choose their own government and have the right to declare that government as illegitimate government, if they fail to do good for the people.
Students: Oh, that is why, our government is protecting themselves by pointing the guns at the people and holding the election after 20 years.
Teacher: Don’t say too much the truth, child or else I will be fired from my job.
